Latest news from the Eco-Town is that the Masterplan for NW Bicester, which was meant to be produced three years ago, is to be delayed for another year. This will now be at least 4 years late.
Cherwell District Council has confirmed that production of the Masterplan will be carried out by consultants working for P3Eco and A2Dominion, in a 12 month project starting this month.
When Cherwell DC gave planning permission for the 393 Exemplar houses (which haven't even started being built yet) they were told that a Masterplan was being developed during 2012. It is now mid-2013 and it appears that the plan won't be ready until at least the middle of 2014, FIVE YEARS after the scheme was first proposed.
Once again it seems that CDC has been premature in granting permission for the Eco-Town Exemplar site without having seen a plan for the whole area, despite being promised every year for the past three years that this would be ready soon.
As it stands today, four years after they started singing the praises of the Eco-Town, our local councillors still have absolutely no idea what the scheme actually comprises. They have no idea what is being proposed to be built, how many actual houses, what the traffic implications will be, what the effect will be on our schools, doctors, hospitals, fire brigade, police, ambulances and sewage works to name but a few.
How much longer will we have to wait until we find out the truth about Bicester NW?
BaECON was formed at the start of 2012 as a formal group to campaign against the ill thought through proposals to site a 5,000 house estate on 850 acres of farmland north of Bicester. We are not a reactionary ‘Nimby’ group who object to this development purely on the basis of its location. Our concerns are around the total lack of democracy in the way the development has been proposed and pushed forward, and the costs and risks involved to local taxpayers.

2012 Election was a massive boost for BaECON
In May of 2012 two of BaECON’s founder members stood as independent candidates in the elections for Cherwell District Council, finishing in second place in both the Caversfield and Bicester North wards respectively.
In both elections the second placed BaECON candidates gave the Conservative candidates a close race, finishing with fewer than 160 votes between them and the elected Councillors.

BaECON to stand candidates in the County Council Elections in May 2013
Over the past year the problems arising from the planned Bicester North West "Eco" Town have not been resolved, nor gone away. Cherwell District Council still appears committed to spending huge amounts of Council Taxpayers’ money on this vanity project, which to date hasn’t even been able to get started.
This week Tony Walton, founder member of Bicester Against the Eco Con (BaECON), announced that BaECON will once again be fielding candidates in the local elections, which will be held on Thursday 2nd May 2013.

Latest News - Eco Town developers don't even own the land
The latest news from the proposed Bicester Eco-Town is that the first building phase - the so called "Exemplar" - has still not started because the developers don't even own the land!
When planning permission was granted last year the developers said they would start work shortly; then we were told it would be late Autumn or very early in the New Year. Now that new year is here it turns out that work can't start because the developers haven't even bought the land for the very first phase.
