Latest News - Eco Town developers don't even own the land

The latest news from the proposed Bicester Eco-Town is that the first building phase - the so called "Exemplar" - has still not started because the developers don't even own the land!

When planning permission was granted last year the developers said they would start work shortly; then we were told it would be late Autumn or very early in the New Year. Now that new year is here it turns out that work can't start because the developers haven't even bought the land for the very first phase.

And to make matters worse it transpires that the masterplan for the whole site (which should really have been produced before planning permission was granted) will not be ready for at least another year!  Yet in March of last year we were told that "good progress" was being made on the plan.  Those behind the Eco-town clearly have a different idea of "progress" than most people.

So far these proposals have been hanging round our necks for almost 4 years, our councillors have granted permission for the first 400 houses to be built, and yet none of our planners even know what is being proposed and won't be told for another year! You couldn't make it up if you tried.
